Weiss scored with 1:48 left in regulation, and then Brown banged in a rebound of a MacArthur shot for the winner in overtime. Richards opened the scoring with a first period tally. Ovechkin and Neal answered in the second before Bouwmeester’s point drive snuck through Rinne to tie the game at two. Neal scored his second of the game midway through the third to give PU a 3-2 lead.
At El Paso 2, London 1
Dubnyk stole the game for El Paso, stopping 39 of 40 shots. Jones tipped in a Murray shot to put the Fog ahead early, but goals by Marleau and St. Louis in a 4:14 span of the second period put the Puck ahead to stay. Bryzgalov made 30 saves in a losing effort.
At Newfoundland 5, Manitoba 3
Selanne scored two power play goals and Thornton added a goal and an assist to lead the Seals past the Mudders. Daniel Sedin put the Mudders ahead just over a minute into the game. Selanne, Datsyuk and Selanne again put the Seals in front. Skinner cut into the lead with a PP goal, but Thornton and Bergeron answered to ice the game. Daniel Sedin’s second of the game made the final 5-3.
Ottawa 3, at Whitehorse 3
Grabner scored twice and Stastny recorded three assists for the host Stallions. Chara got the Tuques on the board first, pounding home a one-timer from Hamonic. Grabner came back with two goals in 29 seconds during the second period. Pietrangelo knotted the game at two with another log shot that eluded Thomas. Perry’s power play goal, midway through the third put the Tuques in front, but Semin converted on a power play with 1:06 left in regulation for the tie.
