Brown opened the scoring with his second of the season. Vermette answered for the Puck just over a minute later. Keith scored on a power play just 14 seconds into the third and Richards tied it up midway through the third. Ward made 36 saves, while Dubnyk stopped 29 shots.
Lombard 4, at Manitoba 0
Lombard rode the backs of Zetterberg and Price to victory. Zetterberg scored a hat trick and Price stopped 28 shots for his first shutout of the season. Jordan Staal scored the other Lombard goal with only two seconds left in the first period.
At Whitehorse 3, London 1
Thomas stopped 29 of 30 shots and Stastny recorded a goal and an assist for the Stallions. Grabner and Clowe added goals for the Stallions, while Briere spoiled Thomas’s shutout bid with a third period goal.
At Newfoundland 6, Ottawa 2
Bobby Lou gets chased again, yielding six goals on 23 shots. Couture’s power play tally in the first minute of play put the Tuques ahead before six unanswered Seals goals by: Holmstrom, Samuelsson, Boyle, Bieksa, Selanne and Thornton. Thornton and Selanne each added two assists on the night. Hossa capped the scoring with a goal late in the third. Lundqvist stopped 28 of 30 shots for the win.
Parts Unknown 8, at Southampton 3
Ovechkin recorded a hat trick and Giroux tallied five points as the Unknowns rode a four-goal second period explosion to victory. Ovechkin’s first two goals gave PU a 2-0 lead, but Crosby answered for Southampton. Goals from Neal, Stewart and Giroux put PU up 5-1 after two periods. Goals by Iginla and Kesler cut the deficit to two, but Backstrom, Tavares and Ovechkin scored to finish the game. Hiller allowed five goals on 23 shots before getting the hook. Miller fared no better, allowing three goals on 14 shots.
