Recaps for games of 1-13-2012

London 2, at Lombard 0
Mr. Universe, Bryzgalov, was humongousbeeg, turning aside 43 shots, 13 of them goalie ratings, for the shutout. Staal and Nash each scored their eighth goal of the season to provide the offense.

SHF 5, at Whitehorse 2
Hiller made 35 saves, and Crosby and Alfredsson each scored a goal and an assist to lead the High Flyers to victory. Iginla, Moulson and Foster added goals for Southampton, and Brouwer and Kane scored for Whitehorse.

At Newfoundland 4, PU 3 OT
Doan scored a power play goal 57 seconds into overtime, his second of the game, to give the Seals the victory. Selanne and Holmstrom added goals for Newfoundland, while Stewart, Ruutu and Ovechkin scored for PU. Rask and Quick took turns in the spotlight as Rask stopped 34 of 36 shots in the first two periods, while Quick turned aside 16 third period shots.

At El Paso 5, Ottawa 4
TKeith and Pavelski each had a goal and an assist to lead the Puck. An Ottawa lead, built on an early Couture power play tally was erased by a Pavelski shorthanded goal and a power play strike by Keith. Heading into the third, El Paso held a 2-1 lead. Cleary quickly tied the game, but Sharp answered less than three minutes later. Cleary tied it again, a mere 1:07 later, but less than two minutes later, McBain responded with his eighth of the year. Berglund added an insurance tally, and Steen made the final seconds interesting by scoring with :45 left.
