At CHA 4, Parts Unknown 3 OT
Richards scored 2:19 into overtime, his second goal of the game, to lift the Cougar to victory. PU jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Ovechkin and Neal. Callahan scored his league-leading 18th goal on the power play, followed by Richards’s first tally and Carlson’s first goal of the year, which also came on the power play. Late in the third, Girardi scored his first goal of the year which sent the game to overtime, where Richards won it. Fleury made 38 saves for the win.
Lombard 3, at Newfoundland 2
Price stopped 32 of 34 shots to backstop Lombard to the win in a penalty filled tilt. Voracek’s second of the year put Lombard on top. With Hall already in the box, Price and Subban engaged in a jousting contest with Price drawing the extra penalty. Doan scored on the two man advantage to tie the game. In the third, Eriksson and Ryan scored 1:03 apart to put the Lightning on top 3-1. Doan’s second power play marker of the game brought the Seals within one, but they were unable to tie the game.
At El Paso 4, Southampton 2
Power play markers from Byfuglien and Pavelski, both scored while Tyutin was serving minor penalties, broke open a 2-2 tie and earned the win for the Puck. Kostitsyn and St. Louis score the first El Paso goals, while Dubnyk stopped 29 of 31 shots and Keith added two assists for the Puck. Heatley and Backes tallied for Southampton.
Ottawa 5, at Manitoba 2
Couture scored twice and added an assist, all in the first period as Ottawa won on the road. Edler, Hamonic and Toews scored Ottawa’s other goals, while Luongo made 26 saves, many of the difficult variety, for the win. Ladd and Goligoski scored for Manitoba
