Cleary’s second goal of the season, on a power play with 1:43 remaining, broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Tuque to victory. Luongo, who had been injured the night before, stopped 35 shots for the victory, outdueling Thomas, who made 32 saves in a losing effort. The Stallions drew first blood on a reasoned rebound goal, and Ottawa tied it on an Edler power play drive from the top of the left circle.
Parts Unknown 3, at El Paso 1
Rinne kept PU in the game, stopping numerous glorious chances, until a third period rally won the game for Parts Unknown. Berglund’s first period goal looked like it might stand up as the game winner until Giroux scored shorthanded with 8:20 remaining in the third. Dubinsky scored the tie breaker 3:21 later, and Neal added an insurance marker 1:13 later.
At Lombard 3, CHA 2
Brad Richards scored a power play goal on a slap shot from the right point with 7:42 remaining in the third to snap a 2-2 tie. Price made 35 saves on 37 shots for the win, allowing only a pair of goals by league-leading sniper, Ryan Callahan, who notched his 19th and 20th goals of the season. Lucic and Zetterberg scored Lombard’s other goals. Lydman and Letang each recorded two assists.
