Recaps for games of 12-11-2011

Whitehorse 3, Ottawa 1
Tim Thomas, vying to win back his starting job, turned aside 40 shots to earn the win for the Stallions. Setoguchi and Leopold each scored their first goal of the season in the first period, Chara beat Thomas with a cannonading drive from the point 56 seconds into the third period to give the Tuques life, and Kane snuffed it out with his ninth of the year midway through the third. Luongo stopped 34 of 37 shots in the loss.

At Lombard 6, Newfoundland 1
Lecavalier and Richards each scored twice and Price made 30 saves as the Lightning thumped the Seals.  Jordan Staal and Lucic each added a goal and an assist for the Lightning, while Recchi accounted for the lone Seals goal, scoring his first of the season to tie the game at one in the first period.

At Southampton 3, El Paso 1
Hiller stood on his head, stopping 39 of 40 shots, many of them prime scoring opportunities, to lead the High Flyers to victory. Tyutin, Koivu and Alfredsson provided the offense, scoring all three goals and accounting for eight points on the night.  Kessel scored the lone El Paso goal, tipping in a Keith point drive on the power play.

At PU 6, London 0
Rinne stopped 25 shots for the shutout, while Stewart scored twice and Giroux added three assists for the Unknowns. Tavares, Backstrom, Kunitz and Stoll scored the other goals, and Ruutu and Ovechkin each tallied a pair of assists.

CHA 5, at Manitoba 2
Callahan scored twice, giving him a league leading 12 goals on the season, and Kopitar and Carlson each added three assists as the Cougar rolled over the Mudders. Ward turned aside 29 of 31 shots for the win, and MacArthur, Weiss and Kulemin scored the other CHA goals. Daniel Sedin scored both Manitoba goals off feeds from his brother.
