CHA 4, at Parts Unknown 4
CHA led this one 2-0 heading into the third period on the strength of goals by Kopitar and Callahan. Johnson scored 31 seconds into the third, signaling a shift in momentum. Peverly answered less than three minutes later for the Cougar. Dubinsky countered 1:34 later for the Unknowns, and Richards re-established the CHA lead a mere 17 seconds later. Goals by Neal and Stewart in a 1:52 span midway through the third period tied the game.
London 5, at Whitehorse 3
Getzlaf scored twice and added an assist, while Erat scored a goal and an assist to lead the Fog to victory. Knuble and Kennedy scored the other London goals, while Kane, Clowe and Scuderi scored for Whitehorse. Bryzgalov made 36 saves, many of them on glorious scoring chances, to earn the game’s third star.
Manitoba 5, at Southampton 3
Daniel and Henrik each recorded a goal and an assist for the Mudders to overcome a pair of Crosby goals for the High Flyers. The game was knotted at two after the first period, with Crosby and Kesler scoring for SHF, while Yandle and Goligoski both scored their first goals of the season. Daniel and Skinner scored in the second before Crosby’s second of the game made it a one-goal affair. Henrik’s goal, a mere 1:49 later gave the Mudders some breathing room.
Ottawa 1, at Newfoundland 1
Luongo stopped 45 of 46 shots to earn the Tuque a precious point in the standings, while Lundqvist turned aside 34 shots for the Seals. Thornton put the Seals on top with a first period marker, off a feed from Subban. That goal stood up until Umberger potted his first goal of the season 3:22 into the third period tied the game at one.
Lombard 7, El Paso 3
Zetterberg scored a pair of power play goals and added two assists as the Lightning torched the Puck. Lecavalier tallied his tenth goal to go with two assists, while Hall, Ryan, Lucic and Enstrom scored the other Lombard goals. Price stopped 34 shots for the victory, allowing goals by Keith, Sharp and Pavelski for El Paso.
