El Paso 1 at Whitehorse 1
Grabner’s league-leading seventh goal and 40 saves by Thomas were the keys to the Stallions taking one point. Grabner fired home a pass from Stastny at the 13 minute mark of the first period to put the Stallions out front. El Paso fought back, throwing copious amounts of rubber at Thomas and finally breaking through when Zajac knocked in a Sharp rebound to tie the game late in the third. Anderson played well for the Puck, stopping 28 of 29 shots.
At CHA 4, Newfoundland 3
Richards scored with 5:24 remaining in the third period to break a 3-3 tie and clinch a Cougar victory in a see-saw affair. Morrow opened the scoring in the first minute, and Gilbert answered in the waning seconds of the first period. Selanne’s league leading seventh goal put the Seals in front, but goals by Malkin and MacDonald responded with goals in a 1:12 span to take the lead. Ehrhoff’s bomb from the point tied the game up, setting the stage for Richards’s heroics.
At London 4, SHF 2
Vanek scored two third period power play goals to break a two all deadlock and lead the Fog to victory. Nash opened the scoring with a first period tally. Iginla answered for the High Flyers to tie the game, and then Vlasic put the Fog back in front. Ennis tied the game in the third to set up Vanek’s game winning goals. Bryzgalov made 29 saves in the win.
