Recaps for games of 12-17-2011

El Paso 3, at Manitoba 0
Anderson stopped 39 shots to notch the shutout for the Puck, who got goals from Gionta, McBain and St. Louis, who added an assist as well. Keith assisted on two goals to earn second star honors. Daniel Sedin did all he could to snap the shutout, firing a game-high seven shots at Anderson.

At CHA 4, London 1
Callahan scored his league-leading 15th goal and added an assist, while Ward stopped 30 of 31 shots to lead the first –place Cougar to another victory. Kulemin, Weiss, and MacArthur tallied for the Cougar, and Kopitar contributed two assists.

NBS 4, at Ottawa 3
Doan’s power play goal, off a rebound of a Bergeron shot with 1:32 remaining in the game, broke a 3-3 tie and earned the Seals two points. Goals by Holmstrom and Selanne put the Seals out front, but a pair of goals from Perry and a power play tally from Hossa gave the Tuques the lead with just over 13 minutes left to play. Burrows tied the score a couple of minutes later, setting up Doan’s game winner.

Whitehorse 2, at Southampton 1
Thomas turned aside 28 shots to earn the victory. Michalek and Semin scored for Whitehorse, while Foster’s first goal of the season was the only High Flyer shot to elude Thomas. Elias assisted on both goals to garner second star recognition.

At Lombard 3. PU 0
Price stopped 33 shots, 17 in the third period, to notch the shutout. The game was scoreless for the first 36 minutes until Doughty scored a power play goal, his first of the season. Less than three minutes later Havlat buried a pass from Krejci to make it 2-0, and the Lightning never looked back. Ryan iced the game with a third period goal. Rinne made 37 saves in a losing effort.
