Recaps for games of 12-26-2011

Lombard 4, at CHA 3
Special teams were the key to this battle of division leaders as Lecavalier and Zetterberg each tallied a power play goal and two assists and Ryan scored a short-handed marker, assisted by the Staal brothers, to overcome what was a 2-1 Cougar lead. Eriksson scored a first period goal, and Callahan scored his league-leading 16th a mere 27 seconds later. Chimera’s first of the season put CHA in front until the Lombard special teams produced three goals in a 10:05 stretch. Weiss cut into the lead with a third period tally, but Kiprusoff made it stand up for his first win of the season, finishing with 36 saves.

PU 7 at Ottawa 2
Stewart and Tavares each scored twice an added an assist, and Rinne turned aside 37 shots as the Unknowns rolled to victory. Michalek, Giroux and Green scored the other PU goals, while Dubinsky, Ward, Johnson and Ovechkin each had multiple assist games. Hossa scored both Tuque goals, including a short-handed marker.

Whitehorse 7, at London 1
Carter and Boyle each scored twice and Weber recorded three assists as the Stallions dissipated the Fog. Thomas made 27 saves for the win, while Plekanec, Clowe and Marchand added two assists each. Connoly scored the lone Fog goal.
