Luongo made 34 saves, and three Tuque goals in a 4:10 span of the second period proved to be enough for the win. Lecavalier’s 14th goal put Lombard out front 6:45 into the first, but Luongo wouldn’t let another puck past him for the rest of the game. Toews, Pietrangelo and Couture all scored in the second period, with Toews and Pietrangelo adding assists, for the victory.
At Manitoba 4, Newfoundland 2
Daniel Sedin scored twice and Niemi made 38 saves in leading the Mudders to victory. Holmstrom and Goligoski traded goals in the first period. Gaborik scored, only his third goal of the season, to put Manitoba out front, and Daniel Sedin iced the game with an even strength goal and a power play tip-in, giving him 13 goals on the year. Morrow closed the scoring with a third period tally.
London 3, at El Paso 1
Bryzgalov turned aside 29 of 30 shots Following a scoreless first period, Kennedy and Getzlaf score second period goals for the Fog. Vermette tapped in a rebound off a Keith shot to cut into the lead, but Seabrook iced the game with a power play tally in the final 10 seconds, beating Dubnyk, who made 29 saves in a losing effort.
